Ingredients
- 0.75 cup boiling water
- 0.5 cup cocoa
- 1.0 cup egg whites (8-10)
- 0.5 tsp cream of tartar
- 1.75 cups sifted cake flour
- 1.5 tsp baking soda
- 1.0 tsp salt
- 0.5 cup salad oil
- 1.0 tsp vanilla
- 8.0 egg yolks
Directions
- 1. Combine boiling water and cocoa.
- 2. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff.
- 3. Sift flour, soda, and salt into a bowl.
- 4. Make a well, add oil, egg yolks, cocoa mixture, and vanilla, beat well.
- 5. Fold into egg whites.
- 6. Pour into an ungreased 10” tube pan.
- 7. Bake at 325°F for 55 minutes, then 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
- 8. Invert to cool.
