Ingredients
- 0.666 cup shortening
- 2.0 cups sugar
- 2.25 cups sifted cake flour
- 1.0 tsp salt
- 1.0 tsp baking soda
- 1.0 tsp baking powder
- 1.25 cups milk
- 3.0 eggs
- 3.0 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1.0 tsp red food coloring
Directions
- 1. Stir shortening to soften.
- 2. Sift in dry ingredients.
- 3. Add 1/2 cup milk, mix until flour is dampened, beat 2 minutes.
- 4. Add remaining milk, eggs, chocolate, and food coloring, beat 2 minutes.
- 5. Pour into 2 paper-lined 9x1.5” pans.
- 6. Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
