Ingredients

  • 1.0 cup rye flour
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup dark Karo syrup
  • 1.0 tbsp salt
  • 2.0 cups boiling water
  • 1.0 pkg yeast
  • 1.0 amount warm water
  • 1.0 tsp sugar
  • 1.0 amount white flour

Directions

  • 1. Add rye flour, brown sugar, Karo syrup, and salt to boiling water, stir and cool.
  • 2. Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 tsp sugar.
  • 3. Add yeast mixture to cooled mixture.
  • 4. Add enough white flour for a medium stiff dough.
  • 5. Bake at 375°F for 45-60 minutes.
