Ingredients
- 0.75 cup milk
- 0.5 cup shortening
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 1.0 tsp salt
- 2.0 eggs
- 2.0 pkgs active dry yeast
- 0.5 cup warm water
- 4.25 cups sifted flour
Directions
- 1. Scald milk, add shortening, sugar, and salt, cool to lukewarm.
- 2. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- 3. Add 1.5 cups flour to milk mixture, beat well.
- 4. Beat in eggs and yeast.
- 5. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- 6. Knead 5-8 minutes.
- 7. Let rise in greased bowl until doubled, 1-1.5 hours.
- 8. Punch down, divide in half.
- 9. Roll each half into a 15-16” circle.
- 10. Brush edges with melted butter, cut into 12 wedges.
- 11. Roll each wedge into a crescent, place on greased sheet.
- 12. Let rise until nearly doubled.
- 13. Bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes.
