Rich Hot Rolls (Crescent Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1.0 tsp salt
  • 2.0 eggs
  • 2.0 pkgs active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup warm water
  • 4.25 cups sifted flour

Directions

  • 1. Scald milk, add shortening, sugar, and salt, cool to lukewarm.
  • 2. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • 3. Add 1.5 cups flour to milk mixture, beat well.
  • 4. Beat in eggs and yeast.
  • 5. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  • 6. Knead 5-8 minutes.
  • 7. Let rise in greased bowl until doubled, 1-1.5 hours.
  • 8. Punch down, divide in half.
  • 9. Roll each half into a 15-16” circle.
  • 10. Brush edges with melted butter, cut into 12 wedges.
  • 11. Roll each wedge into a crescent, place on greased sheet.
  • 12. Let rise until nearly doubled.
  • 13. Bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes.
