Ingredients
- 2.5 tsp yeast
- 0.5 cup warm water
- 0.5 cup evaporated milk
- 0.375 cup white sugar
- 1.0 tsp salt
- 0.333 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1.0 egg
- 4.0 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.666 cup white sugar (topping)
- 0.5 cup butter or margarine (topping)
- 1.0 cup all-purpose flour (topping)
- 2.0 tsp ground cinnamon (topping)
- 1.0 tsp vanilla extract (topping)
Directions
- 1. Mix yeast and warm water.
- 2. Add milk, 3/8 cup sugar, 1/3 cup butter, salt, egg, and 2 cups flour.
- 3. Gradually add remaining flour and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
- 4. Knead 6-8 minutes.
- 5. Let rise in a greased bowl until doubled, about 1 hour.
- 6. Beat 2/3 cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter for topping.
- 7. Stir in 1 cup flour, divide, and mix cinnamon into one half and vanilla into the other.
- 8. Cut dough into 12 pieces, shape into balls.
- 9. Place on a greased cookie sheet.
- 10. Flatten topping into circles and place on dough.
- 11. Cut grooves in topping.
- 12. Let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
- 13. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes.
