French Fried Onion Rings

Ingredients

  • 6.0 large Bermuda or sweet onions
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1.0 egg, beaten
  • 1.0 cup flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1.0 tsp sugar
  • 1.0 tbsp shortening

Directions

  • 1. Peel onions and slice into 1/4” thick rings.
  • 2. Soak in water for 30 minutes, drain, and dry.
  • 3. Combine egg and milk.
  • 4. Stir in flour, salt, and sugar to make batter.
  • 5. Add shortening to batter.
  • 6. Dip onion rings in batter.
  • 7. Fry in deep fat at 365°F until lightly browned.
  • 8. Drain on paper.
