Spiced Apple Rings

Sweet and spiced apple slices

Ingredients

  • 12.0 delicious apples
  • 1.0 cup sugar
  • 8.0 cups water
  • 4.0 tsp red food coloring
  • 1.0 tsp allspice
  • 1.0 tsp mace
  • 30.0 whole cloves

Directions

  • 1. Wash, core, peel, and slice apples into ⅜-inch thick rings.
  • 2. Tie cloves in a spice bag.
  • 3. Bring sugar, water, food coloring, allspice, mace, and spice bag to a boil.
  • 4. Add apple slices and boil until tender but firm.
  • 5. Remove from heat, weight apples under solution, and let stand overnight.
  • 6. Pack into jars within ½ inch of the top, seal, and process in a boiling water bath for 25 minutes.
