
Sweet and spiced apple slices

Ingredients
- 12.0 delicious apples
- 1.0 cup sugar
- 8.0 cups water
- 4.0 tsp red food coloring
- 1.0 tsp allspice
- 1.0 tsp mace
- 30.0 whole cloves
Directions
- 1. Wash, core, peel, and slice apples into ⅜-inch thick rings.
- 2. Tie cloves in a spice bag.
- 3. Bring sugar, water, food coloring, allspice, mace, and spice bag to a boil.
- 4. Add apple slices and boil until tender but firm.
- 5. Remove from heat, weight apples under solution, and let stand overnight.
- 6. Pack into jars within ½ inch of the top, seal, and process in a boiling water bath for 25 minutes.
