Chicken Noodle Soup

Classic homemade chicken noodle

Ingredients

  • 1.0 whole chicken
  • 1.0 whole onion, sliced
  • 3.0 peppercorns
  • 0.0 water to cover
  • 2.5 tbsp Wyler’s Chicken bouillon granules
  • 0.0 salt and pepper to taste
  • 1.0 12-oz bag Goucher’s old fashioned egg noodles
  • 0.0 pinch of saffron (optional)

Directions

  • 1. Wash chicken and place in a large kettle with sliced onion and peppercorns.
  • 2. Cover with water, bring to a slight boil, then simmer 2-3 hours until legs and wings fall off.
  • 3. Remove chicken, strain broth into a bowl, and bone chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  • 4. Skim fat from broth and return to cleaned kettle.
  • 5. Add more water to make kettle ⅔-¾ full, reheat, and add bouillon, salt, and pepper.
  • 6. Bring to a slight boil, add noodles, and simmer until tender.
  • 7. Add chicken and saffron, then keep warm until serving.
