
Classic homemade chicken noodle

Ingredients
- 1.0 whole chicken
- 1.0 whole onion, sliced
- 3.0 peppercorns
- 0.0 water to cover
- 2.5 tbsp Wyler’s Chicken bouillon granules
- 0.0 salt and pepper to taste
- 1.0 12-oz bag Goucher’s old fashioned egg noodles
- 0.0 pinch of saffron (optional)
Directions
- 1. Wash chicken and place in a large kettle with sliced onion and peppercorns.
- 2. Cover with water, bring to a slight boil, then simmer 2-3 hours until legs and wings fall off.
- 3. Remove chicken, strain broth into a bowl, and bone chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- 4. Skim fat from broth and return to cleaned kettle.
- 5. Add more water to make kettle ⅔-¾ full, reheat, and add bouillon, salt, and pepper.
- 6. Bring to a slight boil, add noodles, and simmer until tender.
- 7. Add chicken and saffron, then keep warm until serving.
