
Light apple pie with double crust

Ingredients
- 6.0 oz can frozen apple juice
- 2.0 tbsp flour, rounded
- 1.0 tsp cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 5.0 apples, peeled and sliced
- 0.0 margarine
- 0.0 nutmeg
- 2.0 cups flour (for crust)
- 1.0 tsp salt (for crust)
- 0.75 cup shortening (for crust)
- 0.25 cup ice water (for crust)
Directions
- 1. Cook apple juice, flour, cinnamon, and salt until thickened.
- 2. Stir in sliced apples.
- 3. Pour into a pie shell and dot with margarine.
- 4. For crust, blend flour, salt, and shortening until coarse.
- 5. Add ice water to crust mixture and mix, then roll out for two 9-inch crusts.
- 6. Add top crust, sprinkle with water and nutmeg.
- 7. Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes, then at 350°F for 30 minutes.
