Fresh Pear Pie

Spiced pear double-crust pie

Ingredients

  • 5.0 cups thinly sliced pears
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3.0 tbsp flour
  • 2.0 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 1.0 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 tsp salt
  • 2.0 tbsp butter or margarine

Directions

  • 1. Sprinkle pears with lemon juice.
  • 2. Toss pears with brown sugar, flour, nutmeg, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • 3. Heap into a pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate.
  • 4. Dot with butter.
  • 5. Add top crust, seal, flute edges, and cut vents.
  • 6. Bake at 425°F for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
