Canned apple pie filling

Ingredients

  • 0.0 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 4.5 cups sugar
  • 1.0 cup cornstarch
  • 2.0 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1.0 tsp salt
  • 10.0 cups water
  • 3.0 tbsp lemon juice

Directions

  • 1. Peel and slice apples, then fill quart jars tightly.
  • 2. Cook sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and water until thick and bubbly.
  • 3. Add lemon juice to syrup.
  • 4. Cover apples with syrup in jars.
  • 5. Process in a water bath for 20 minutes.
