Cherry-filled cookie bars

Ingredients

  • 1.0 cup butter
  • 1.75 cups sugar
  • 4.0 eggs
  • 1.0 tsp vanilla
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1.25 tsp baking powder
  • 0.125 tsp salt
  • 1.0 can cherry pie filling

Directions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • 2. Beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  • 3. Add flour, baking powder, and salt, beat until creamy.
  • 4. Reserve 1.5 cups batter.
  • 5. Spread remaining batter in a greased jelly-roll pan.
  • 6. Spoon cherry pie filling over batter.
  • 7. Drop reserved batter by teaspoonfuls over filling.
  • 8. Bake 40 minutes.
