Fruit Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 2.0 cups sifted flour
  • 2.0 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 0.666 cup milk
  • 1.0 to taste sugar for sprinkling
  • 1.0 amount pitted fruits

Directions

  • 1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • 2. Cut in shortening.
  • 3. Stir in milk until soft dough forms.
  • 4. Knead lightly on a board.
  • 5. Roll or press out to 1/8” thick, 5” square.
  • 6. Place pitted fruits in center, sprinkle with sugar.
  • 7. Moisten edges, press around fruit.
  • 8. Drop in boiling water, boil until done.
  • 9. Serve drizzled with hot fat or oil and sugar.
