
Whole apples wrapped in pastry

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups flour
- 0.5 cup shortening
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 cup water
- 6.0 medium apples
- 1.0 cup sugar
- 1.0 tbsp butter
- 1.0 tsp cinnamon
- 2.0 cups water (for sauce)
Directions
- 1. Mix flour, shortening, salt, and water into a dough.
- 2. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick, cut into 4-inch squares.
- 3. Peel and core apples, place one on each square.
- 4. Fill apple centers with sugar, dot with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon.
- 5. Wrap dough around apples, place in a baking dish.
- 6. Boil sugar, butter, and water for 3 minutes, pour over apples.
- 7. Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes until apples are done.
