Peanut Brittle (Using Raw Peanuts)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1.25 cups white Karo syrup
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1.0 lb raw peanuts
  • 1.0 tsp baking soda

Directions

  • 1. Mix sugar, syrup, salt, and peanuts in a heavy saucepan.
  • 2. Cook, stirring constantly, until amber and peanut aroma develops.
  • 3. Remove from heat, add baking soda, stir well.
  • 4. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet.
  • 5. Flip onto a buttered surface, stretch until brittle.
  • 6. Break into pieces when cooled.
