Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup lard or oleo
  • 1.0 cup sugar
  • 1.0 egg, beaten
  • 1.0 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1.0 cup flour
  • 1.0 tsp cinnamon
  • 1.0 tsp nutmeg
  • 1.0 cup chopped nuts
  • 2.25 cups raw apples
  • 1.0 cup sugar (icing)
  • 2.0 tsp flour (icing)
  • 1.0 tsp butter (icing)
  • 1.0 cup water (icing)
  • 1.0 tsp vanilla (icing)
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg (icing)
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon (icing)

Directions

  • 1. Cream lard and sugar, add egg.
  • 2. Add dry ingredients, apples, and nuts.
  • 3. Pour into an 8” square pan.
  • 4. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  • 5. Cook sugar, flour, butter, water, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon for icing until thick.
  • 6. Pour over hot cake.
